HOME BUSINESS OFFERS REFUGE FROM RECESSION

Local Entrepreneur Enjoys Flexibility and Financial Stability

Portland, Maine. – January 11, 2011 – The latest economic indicators for May bring some hopeful tidings, but also some significant concerns. The U.S. unemployment rate is as high as it has been in 25 years, and there is continued concern about sizable job losses to come. The recession has been a source of severe stress for many throughout the country.

According to the recent Multi-Sponsor Surveys’ 2009 Economic Impact Market Segmentation Study, 49% of employed adults expressed worry about potential job loss, while 32% admitted to “significant” financial troubles.

But amid numerous reports of havoc and despair created by the current economic climate, Jeremy Hixon, a local small-business entrepreneur here in Portland, reports a very different experience during this recession.

“If it weren’t for the additional income my health-and-wellness business generates, I think my family would probably be in a very different place,” says Jem Hixon, who operates a Shaklee business out of his home.

“My business helps us not only continue to pay the bills on time, but it also generates additional income which we save to have on hand for unexpected situations, or use when we want to do something special, like take a trip, buy a new car, or remodel the kitchen—things that would otherwise be outside of our budget.”

Jeremy Hixon credits his home business for helping to alleviate much of his family’s stress and says his business has eased financial concerns while providing flexibility—qualities that can insulate a family from the changing tides of the economy. Most people who run a business from home work only part time, so there’s freedom to plan business activities around the busy schedule of a young family.

“When I began my business,” says Hixon, “it was on a very part-time basis.  Since I started, I’ve increased the amount of time I spend working with it. Using the Internet and communicating my business online makes my work much more efficient and flexible at the same time, making it possible for me to work on my business pretty much whenever I have downtime from my other responsibilities.  Plus, it was easy and inexpensive to get started, and there’s no need to make space in our home for any inventory since the company ships directly to my customers.”

Home businesses have drawn considerable interest from people who may be having a difficult time finding employment and from those looking for an income opportunity that also resonates with their personal beliefs—characteristics that most jobs likely do not offer.

“Because I recommend products that help people to be healthier, that help our environment to be cleaner, and for homes to be safer, I feel good about what I do. And because I also offer the chance for other people to do what I’m doing—to achieve independence in a way they may not have thought possible—there’s an incredible feeling of satisfaction in knowing that I can help make a real difference for people looking for extra income right now.”

According to the 2009 Economic Impact Market Segmentation Study, 60% of adults are now interested in operating a home business in response to the economic downturn.

“To me, there’s a great sense of security knowing that my business is backed by a company that has a proven track record and more than 50 years of experience giving people the means to thrive, even during the most difficult economic times,” says Hixon. “Shaklee has grown during each of the prior recessions since it was founded in 1956.”

Red Ice brings you the Alien Interviews:

“Lynn Marzulli returns to the program to discuss his latest title “The Alien Interviews” on UFO’s, Aliens Abductions, Cattle Mutilations and high strangeness. Lynn is the author of “The Nephilim Trilogy, “Politics, Prophecy and the Supernatural” joins us to discuss his new book “The Alien Interviews”. Topics Discussed: The Alien End Game, Hypnosis Techniques, Black-Ops, Medical Experimentation, The different races of Aliens, Cattle Mutilation, The Vatican Disclosure, Obama, Obama inaugural UFO Sighting, David Jacobs, Black-Ops, Aliens working with humans, The UK Wind Turbine Incident, Phoenix lights, Men in Black, The Grays and much more.”

Coast to Coast:
Researcher L.A.Marzulli discusses how a recent string of events validates notions of a coming great deception, as foretold in ancient prophecies. He cited the Myanmar cyclone, the Chinese earthquake, and other natural disasters, along with the Middle East tensions as being indicators that we’re living in the time prophesied by Ezekiel, and in the Book of Revelation.

Natural disasters are up more than 400% in the last two decades, he noted. Book of Revelation writes about a one-world government and religion, as well as the mark of the beast. Marzulli suggested that a terrorist attack involving suitcase nukes might be used as a pretext for people to get microchipped for alleged security reasons (the chip would be the mark that is prophesied).

He believes that a war in the Middle East will be a supernatural trigger, leading to the appearance of huge spaceships (1-3 miles wide) in the skies. The ETs (who are actually fallen angels) will claim to be the progenitors of humankind and religion– but this is the great Luciferian deception, designed to get everyone united in a one-world govt./religion, he detailed.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull IS IT PROPAGANDA when it’s only a movie, and a pretty mediocre one at that? Our guest tonight, Dr. Lynn Marzulli, author of Politics, Prophecy, and the Supernatural, says yes. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is, in Lynn’s view, a thinly veiled piece of predictive programming intended to prepare us for the forthcoming disclosure event, the revelation that we owe our existence to our “space brothers”. Furthermore, all the world’s religions are based on a flawed creation myth, and now they’ve returned to help us take the next step in our spiritual evolution. http://www.pidradio.com/?tag=lynn-marzulli

The Strong Delusion:
Marzulli’s new book, Politics, Prophecy and the Supernatural, further expands on his considerable research in the subject of UFOs, Abduction Phenomena, and genetic manipulation from the grounding of solid Biblical prophecy. Marzulli came to know Jesus Christ after the disillusion and deception of New Age spiritualism.

Car fuel could be created from thin air using an enzyme from a common soil bacterium, say scientists.

Cars could one day create their own fuel out of thin air, according to scientists. Photo: BLOOMBERG

It is hoped that this will lead to a cheap way of making environmentally friendly, carbon-neutral ‘green’ fuel that can be used without major redesigns of car engines.

Azotobacter vinelandii, a microbe found around the roots of various food plants, creates an enzyme – vanadium nitrogenase – which in nature produces ammonia from nitrogen gas. But now it has been shown that it can also create propane, the fuel commonly used in camping gas stoves, out of carbon monoxide – a common byproduct of industrial processes.

Markus Ribbe, a scientist at the University of California, says that eventually the enzyme could be tweaked, so that instead of only making the simple three-carbon-atom chain molecule of propane, it could create the longer chains that make up petrol. He says: "Obviously this could lead to new ways to create synthetic liquid fuels if we can make longer carbon-carbon chains."

The researchers found that, when deprived of the oxygen and nitrogen from which it made ammonia and given carbon monoxide instead, vanadium nitrogenase automatically started using it to produce short carbon chains, two or three atoms long. This new ability is a "profound discovery", according to Jonas Peters, a California Institute of Technology researcher, adding that it will have important industrial applications.

But the real excitement is in the possibility of using it for car fuel. Cars produce carbon monoxide in their exhausts through incomplete combustion, so in the not too distant future, it might be possible partly to fuel cars off their own fumes. Later still, it might be possible to draw fuel straight out of the air – technology for breaking down carbon dioxide into carbon monoxide exists, and the former is widely available in the atmosphere. Eventually, cars could be taking carbon out of the atmosphere as fast as they put it back in.

That’s a long way off – extracting, growing and storing sufficient quantities of vanadium nitrogenase is "very, very difficult", according to Dr Ribbe. While A. vinelandii and its useful enzyme have been known about for a long time – the genes that code for the enzyme were isolated more than 20 years ago – the technology required to make it in useful quantities is very recent.

Quantum physicists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology believe it is possible to create a time machine which could affect the past without creating a "grandfather paradox".

Doc Emmett Brown, Marty McFly and the DeLorean from Back to the Future. Quantum time machine allows paradox-free time travel

How the quantum time machine may look. Or, possibly, a still from Back to the Future. Photo: UNIVERSAL STUDIOS

Scientists have for some years been able to ‘teleport’ quantum states from one place to another. Now Seth Lloyd and his MIT team say that, using the same principles and a further strange quantum effect known as ‘postselection’, it should be possible to do the same backwards in time. Lloyd told the Technology Review: "It is possible for particles (and, in principle, people) to tunnel from the future to the past."

Postselection is a vital part of the nascent science of quantum computing. In traditional computing, if a user needs to determine which set of variables in an equation leads to the answer being true, the computer must try every combination until it hits upon one that works. In quantum computing, due to the weird parallel behaviour of subatomic particles, it seems to be possible to simplify the procedure by running all possible variations simultaneously, and selecting only the combinations that make the answer true.

    Related Articles

Professor Lloyd and his team say that, by combining teleportation and postselection, it would be possible to carry out the quantum teleportation effect in reverse; that is, to decide after the teleportation what the quantum state must have been before it. This works as postselection allows you to dictate which quantum states can be teleported, limiting what state it can have been in before the teleportation. The state of the particle post-teleportation has therefore, in effect, travelled back in time.

Dr Richard Low, a quantum computing scientist from the University of Bristol, says: "You could think of it as postselection affecting the history of the particle, sending the state back in time."

Unlike previous theories of teleportation, this apparently avoids the "grandfather paradox" – or, to Back to the Future fans, the Marty McFly problem. If you go back and change time, and accidentally end up killing your own grandparent, you create a paradox – you will not be born, so you cannot go back and affect time. Even with subatomic particles, this is still a problem: upon travelling back in time, the particle could somehow destroy its earlier self or move it, thus preventing it from travelling.

However, because of the probabilistic nature of quantum mechanics, Prof Lloyd’s method seems to avoid this. Anything caused by the time travel must have had a finite probability of happening anyway, so paradoxical impossibilities are out.

Further, this time travel method does not involve bending spacetime, unlike other proposed systems. At the moment, the only conditions known that would bend spacetime sufficiently exist in black holes, which would be impractical at best.

It is a controversial theory, to say the least. Some physicists claim that the apparently impossible things implied by postselection prove that it cannot work, which would destroy Prof Lloyd’s theory before it got off the ground.

The theory is unlikely to lead to DeLorean time machines or anything remotely similar. Instead, Prof Lloyd and his team hope that it can advance our understanding of physics: "Our hope is that this theory may prove useful in formulating a quantum theory of gravity," he says.

Prof Lloyd’s paper, The quantum mechanics of time travel through post-selected teleportation, is published in arxiv.org – Quantum Physics.

Someone may soon be able to tell what types material are in your pockets from tens, and possibly thousands, of feet away.

    293diggsdigg

Using terahertz remote sensing, detectors could see through walls, clothing and packaging materials and immediately identify the unique terahertz waves of the materials contained inside, such as explosives or drugs.

Until now, detecting terahertz waves — the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum between infrared and microwave light — hasn’t been possible from distances more than inches because the waves are absorbed by ambient moisture in the air, killing the signal.

“A lot of other researchers thought that terahertz remote sensing was mission impossible,” said physicist Jingle Liu of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, lead author of the study published July 11 in Nature Photonics.

Liu’s team solved the problem by not relying on the terahertz waves themselves to generate or carry the signal back to the detector. Instead, they used the reflection created by lasers pointed at the target.

Terahertz range of the electromagnetic spectrum

Two lasers at different frequencies aimed at the target together generate a plasma (basically excited, or ionized air). This plasma emits a florescence that is scattered in characteristic ways by the terahertz radiation of the material it hits. The reflection of the florescence is detectable from remote distances

The researchers have tested hundreds of different substances and created a library of terahertz spectra to compare to the signal from the target and instantly identify the material that was hit.

The researchers demonstrated that they could detect the signal from 67 feet away, the length of their laboratory space, but theoretically they could identify materials hundreds of feet or even miles away, Liu said.

“Homeland security and military agencies have been struggling for years to get technology like this,” said terahertz expert Abul Azad at Los Alamos National Laboratory. “I think the approach they have revealed is really, really unique.”

The first application of this technology will likely be for the remote detection of roadside bombs, also known as improvised explosive devices (IEDs) by the military. Homeland Security and the Defense Department were the primary funders of the research.

Terahertz detectors could also be used for airport security to detect illegal substances hidden in people’s clothes. The approach would be less invasive than x-rays, Liu said, because terahertz waves are much lower in energy. It would not reveal anything concealed inside the body, because the terahertz signals cannot go through water, or metal.

Theoretically, Liu said, terahertz remote sensing could also be used identify the composition of an unknown toxic spill in the environment, or the composition of objects in space.

    Prophecy & Current Events

    Host:

    George Noory

    Guests:

    Patrick Cooke

Theologian, ufologist, and author Patrick Cooke discussed prophecy and how it relates to current events, as well as UFOs, aliens, and various types of paranormal activity. Mayan prophecies don’t speak of an apocalyptic end, but do foretell that our world will join with the Netherworld or spiritual world, he noted. The prophecies from the Book of Revelation are almost exclusively environmental in nature, such as a verse from Revelation 8:8 describing “a great mountain burning with fire” being cast into the sea, turning part of the sea to blood, and ocean life dying. A number of other biblical & Hopi prophecies mention the sea turning black, which could relate to the current Gulf oil spill, he added.

Cooke believes there are also prophecies about global economic control, and that the “mark of the Beast” refers to corporations or big banking cartels taking over the way people can buy or sell. We’re going to see more environmental damage and control over our lives unless we stop the corporations from the direction they’re rapidly moving in, he warned.

The terms angels and aliens can be used synonymously, said Cooke, who also talked about his research into the stone chambers of New England, and crop circles & cattle mutilations. Interestingly, he reported that particles of pure iron are found near the bodies of mutilated cattle as well as at crop circle formation sites. Such particles would be very difficult and expensive to produce, he detailed.
