HOME BUSINESS OFFERS REFUGE FROM RECESSION

Local Entrepreneur Enjoys Flexibility and Financial Stability

Portland, Maine. – January 11, 2011 – The latest economic indicators for May bring some hopeful tidings, but also some significant concerns. The U.S. unemployment rate is as high as it has been in 25 years, and there is continued concern about sizable job losses to come. The recession has been a source of severe stress for many throughout the country.

According to the recent Multi-Sponsor Surveys’ 2009 Economic Impact Market Segmentation Study, 49% of employed adults expressed worry about potential job loss, while 32% admitted to “significant” financial troubles.

But amid numerous reports of havoc and despair created by the current economic climate, Jeremy Hixon, a local small-business entrepreneur here in Portland, reports a very different experience during this recession.

“If it weren’t for the additional income my health-and-wellness business generates, I think my family would probably be in a very different place,” says Jem Hixon, who operates a Shaklee business out of his home.

“My business helps us not only continue to pay the bills on time, but it also generates additional income which we save to have on hand for unexpected situations, or use when we want to do something special, like take a trip, buy a new car, or remodel the kitchen—things that would otherwise be outside of our budget.”

Jeremy Hixon credits his home business for helping to alleviate much of his family’s stress and says his business has eased financial concerns while providing flexibility—qualities that can insulate a family from the changing tides of the economy. Most people who run a business from home work only part time, so there’s freedom to plan business activities around the busy schedule of a young family.

“When I began my business,” says Hixon, “it was on a very part-time basis.  Since I started, I’ve increased the amount of time I spend working with it. Using the Internet and communicating my business online makes my work much more efficient and flexible at the same time, making it possible for me to work on my business pretty much whenever I have downtime from my other responsibilities.  Plus, it was easy and inexpensive to get started, and there’s no need to make space in our home for any inventory since the company ships directly to my customers.”

Home businesses have drawn considerable interest from people who may be having a difficult time finding employment and from those looking for an income opportunity that also resonates with their personal beliefs—characteristics that most jobs likely do not offer.

“Because I recommend products that help people to be healthier, that help our environment to be cleaner, and for homes to be safer, I feel good about what I do. And because I also offer the chance for other people to do what I’m doing—to achieve independence in a way they may not have thought possible—there’s an incredible feeling of satisfaction in knowing that I can help make a real difference for people looking for extra income right now.”

According to the 2009 Economic Impact Market Segmentation Study, 60% of adults are now interested in operating a home business in response to the economic downturn.

“To me, there’s a great sense of security knowing that my business is backed by a company that has a proven track record and more than 50 years of experience giving people the means to thrive, even during the most difficult economic times,” says Hixon. “Shaklee has grown during each of the prior recessions since it was founded in 1956.”

In the first half of the program, researcher and author Linda Godfrey reported on sightings of an unknown upright-walking canine known as the ‘Manwolf’ or ‘Dogman.’ Witnesses describe these creatures as 5 to 7 feet tall, extremely muscular, covered in fur, with large fangs, the head of a wolf or German Shepherd, and somehow imbued with a special sentience (perhaps as a result of walking on their hind legs). According to Godfrey, every part of the United States has its own version of the creature, but the largest concentration of sightings are around the Great Lakes. In addition, there are what appear to be migratory routes to Oklahoma and some south eastern states, she added.

Godfrey provided details from a recent case that may have involved a canine cryptid. On December 29, 2010, a Quarter Horse was found dead in the driveway of a stable near Deerfield, Wisconsin. The animal suffered a fatal neck wound that looked as though something had taken a single swipe at it and cut the jugular, carotid, and part of the trachea, Godfrey explained. A similar incident occurred only 15 miles away in Jefferson, Wisconsin, where, in 1972, a woman reported seeing a tall hairy humanoid on her property. The creature left claw marks on the side of the woman’s house seven feet above the ground, as well as entered her barn and put a 30-inch gash into a horse’s neck, she noted.

This past October a group of six people ventured to Wisconsin’s infamous Bray Road, where they came face-to-face with the roadway’s namesake beast, Godfrey continued. Four of the six reported seeing two creatures standing 6 to 7 feet tall, moving upright on their hind legs, with canine silhouettes and yellowish eyes, she said. According to the witnesses, as soon as the creatures saw they were being watched they dropped to all fours and ran off into the darkness. Godfrey also shared the case of a fisherman who confronted a walking canine creature on the banks of the Alabama River, as well as the 2006 account of a father and son who encountered a ‘Manbat.’ The flying creature had a 10-ft wingspan, emitted an ear-piercing shriek, and caused the men to become immediately ill, Godfrey revealed.

The remainder of the show was devoted to Open Lines.

Author and researcher Steve Quayle riffed on a variety of topics such as giants, weather modification, secret aircraft, biblical prophecy, genetic engineering, the Illuminati agenda, and Planet X. The machinery to affect weather has gotten smaller and cheaper over the years, and there are currently 72 ionospheric heaters, in addition climate-controlling technology like Project HAARP, he outlined. Sightings of silent triangular-shaped craft are on the rise, and a battle in outer space is imminent, said Quayle, naming "extra-dimensionals" and black-ops as some of the participants.

The "super-soldier" program, Stargate technology, and CERN are involved in efforts to re-animate ancient giants, who were some 12-18 ft. height, he declared. "We are experiencing now the full implementation, in my opinion, of the Luciferian war on humanity. We talk about the New World Order, the Illuminati, the International League, but what is the prime directive of all those entities? It’s the destruction of a five and half billion people," he cautioned.

Quayle reported his recent conversation with a "high ranking Goldman Sachs official" who’d visited one of the elite’s underground cities that was being prepared. The official warned him that a "global flu" had already been determined, and a mandatory vaccination will be required, with those who refuse to take it being sent to FEMA camps. On the subject of Planet X, Quayle suggested that we’re already seeing its effects throughout the solar system, and eventually, it will lead to a massive number of simultaneous active volcanoes on Earth.

Bird Die-Off Analysis

First hour guest, earth changes expert Mitch Battros offered analysis of the recent bird die-offs. Their deaths were likely a natural occurrence, he said, which may have been caused by a Dec. 31st geomagnetic sun storm, which sent a plasma pulse to the Earth, possibly resulting in the birds’ disorientation.

A huge sinkhole appeared overnight in the central German town of Schmalkalden Monday, swallowing a parked car and a garage door but causing no injuries.

The circular hole, which is about 98 feet across and 65 feet deep, appeared at around 3a.m. in a residential area, reports Der Spiegel, forcing the evacuation of 25 people. Experts are pointing to natural causes for the hole, but they have yet to determine the exact cause.

Sinkholes are often caused by the underground erosion of salt beds or soluble sedimentary rocks, such as limestone or dolomite. Groundwater flows through these rocks, creating subterranean caverns that can suddenly collapse.

In the past year, large sinkholes have appeared in Guatemala City, Tampa, Fla., Quebec, and Milwaukee, Wisc.

Officials from Schmalkalden, a town of 20,000 that was formerly part of East Germany say that they plan to fill the hole with gravel.

Art Bell hosted Ghost to Ghost AM in which he opened the lines to listeners to share their tales of ghostly encounters. A number of callers reported interactions with strange entities — Brian of California saw a being that grew in size, and had a face like a Punch doll, while a caller to the Wild Card line said he witnessed the ghost of a rain-coated girl, who was later seen moving in slow motion. Another listener described a childhood memory of seeing a man in a Santa suit fall down a well in Vallejo, CA. Later he saw a vision of the man floating over his bed telling him to go downstairs to get his Christmas presents. According to the caller’s father, it was unknown where several gifts came from, including an old wooden handmade train.

Greg from Chicago talked about his recent project of photographing the locations where people were murdered, and said at one of the spots “a really weird ghostly…image stain” appeared on his film. Maggie from Arkansas shared an intriguing account of how her deceased best friend made warnings from beyond the grave about her new boyfriend– she literally heard him making remarks about him in her ear. Subsequently, she found out his warnings were true, and dropped the boyfriend.

Delbert, a trucker driving through Amarillo, told of how his wife’s sister died in a car accident. Later, he and his wife were taking care of the sister’s three year-old son at their home in Nebraska, when the door of the room suddenly closed and the temperature “dropped so cold you could see your breath.” The boy said ‘Hi Mommy,’ and seemed to be listening to her. He then said ‘OK Mommy,’ and then ‘Bye Mommy.’ After that, the door swung back open, and the room warmed up “like nothing ever happened.”

Oct. 21, 2010:  Nearly a year after announcing the discovery of water molecules on the moon, scientists have revealed new data uncovered by NASA‘s Lunar CRater Observation and Sensing Satellite, or LCROSS, and Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, or LRO—and it’s more than just water.

The missions found evidence that lunar soil within shadowy craters is rich in useful materials. Moreover, the moon appears to be chemically active and has a full-fledged water cycle. Scientists also confirmed that ‘moon water’ was in the form of mostly pure ice crystals in some places.

These results are featured in six papers published in the Oct. 22 issue of Science.

The twin impacts of LCROSS and a companion rocket stage in the moon’s Cabeus crater on Oct. 9, 2009, lifted a plume of material that might not have seen direct sunlight for billions of years. As the plume traveled nearly 10 miles above the crater’s rim, instruments aboard LCROSS and LRO made observations of the crater and debris and vapor clouds. After the impacts, grains of mostly pure water ice were lofted into the sunlight in the vacuum of space.

“Seeing mostly pure water ice grains in the plume means water ice was somehow delivered to the moon in the past, or chemical processes have been causing ice to accumulate in large quantities,” said Anthony Colaprete, LCROSS project scientist and principal investigator at NASA’s Ames Research Center.

In addition to water, the plume contained “volatiles.” These are compounds that freeze in the cold lunar craters and vaporize easily when warmed by the sun. The suite of LCROSS and LRO instruments determined as much as 20 percent of the material kicked up by the LCROSS impact was volatiles, including methane, ammonia, hydrogen gas, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide.

The map contains several intensely cold impact craters that could trap water ice and other icy compounds commonly observed in comets. The approximate maximum temperatures at which these compounds would be frozen in place for more than a billion years are noted at right. [larger image]

“The diversity and abundance of volatiles in the plume suggest a variety of sources, like comets and asteroids, and an active water cycle within the lunar shadows,” says Colaprete.

The instruments also discovered relatively large amounts of light metals such as sodium, mercury and possibly even silver. Scientists believe the water and mix of volatiles that LCROSS and LRO detected could be the remnants of a comet impact. According to scientists, these volatile chemical by-products are also evidence of a cycle through which water ice reacts with lunar soil grains.

LRO’s Diviner instrument gathered data on water concentration and temperature measurements, and LRO’s Lunar Exploration Neutron Detector mapped the distribution of hydrogen. This combined data led the science team to conclude the water is not uniformly distributed within the shadowed cold traps, but rather is in pockets, which may also lie outside the shadowed regions.

These experiments at the Ames Vertical Gun Range helped researchers understand the LCROSS impact. Solid impacts send debris to the side (left), whereas hollow impacts result in a high-angle ejecta plume (right). The primary LCROSS impact was an emptied rocket and acted like a hollow projectile. The proportion of volatiles to water in the lunar soil indicates a process called “cold grain chemistry” is taking place. Scientists also theorize this process could take as long as hundreds of thousands of years and may occur on other frigid, airless bodies such as asteroids; the moons of Jupiter and Saturn (including Europa and Enceladus); Mars’ moons; interstellar dust grains floating around other stars and the polar regions of Mercury.

“The observations by the suite of LRO and LCROSS instruments demonstrate the moon has a complex environment that experiences intriguing chemical processes,” said Richard Vondrak, LRO project scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. “This knowledge can open doors to new areas of research and exploration.”

By understanding the processes and environments that determine where water ice will be, how water was delivered to the moon and its active water cycle, future mission planners might be better able to determine which locations will have easily-accessible water. The existence of mostly pure water ice could mean future human explorers won’t have to devise complicated processes to retrieve water out of the soil in order to use it for valuable life support resources. In addition, an abundant presence of hydrogen gas, ammonia and methane could be exploited to produce fuel.

“NASA has convincingly confirmed the presence of water ice and characterized its patchy distribution in permanently shadowed regions of the moon,” concludes Michael Wargo, chief lunar scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington. “This major undertaking is the one of many steps NASA has taken to better understand our solar system, its resources, and its origin, evolution, and future.”
